Type of hike: Interior Backcountry Day Hike, Looped
Difficulty: Easy - Family
Time: less than 1 hour
Distance: 1.5 kms / 1 mile

A well worn looped trail with very different scenery from the rest of the trails in the park.

This flat and easy hike leads you around a shallow lake and soon after you begin there is a short side-trail that goes to the edge of the lake.  It’s not an official lookout, but has a good view – take a peek at the lily pads scattered on the surface of the water.  When you turn around to get back on the trail, look upwards, and you will see one of the tallest pine trees around.

Peaceful and calm, bullfrogs singing, moosetracks in the mud, and dragon flys buzzing about.  It’s about 20 minutes from the start to the 1st lookout and few minutes past here is the 2nd lookout.  Both locations have a platform to walk out on for a better view of the lake.

Before the end of the trail; there is a huge birch tree on your left hand side about 4 feet in diameter, and a floating bridge – the only one that we know of in the park.

Note: Times will vary depending on the weather, trail conditions, and physical conditioning. This is only a general scenic guide; refer to your park map available at the Agawa Bay Visitors Centre or Park Office at Red Rock. Check with the park staff for up to date trail conditions.
